A Patch of Blue

With this piece I was starting to experiment with salvaged wood that had previously been painted, bringing a little colour into the work. I think old wood with layers of paint on it is really evocative. Some of the wood I’ve used was taken from an old gate that had been painted in several shades of blue. Hence the name!
A Patch of Blue is the title of a very moving film from the sixties that starred Sidney Poitier and Shelley Winters.
